Well, I fell down a few inner and outer rabbits holes these past weeks which prevented me from writing to you. If you have a brain that is pulled in multiple directions all at the same time and is interested in just about everything, I hope this poem gives you a moment of recognition and brightens your day.
Drip drip goes the rain.
Drip drip. Drip drip.
Slip slipping
from the branches of the apple tree
onto the honeysuckle leaves
weaving its wet and wonderful way
into the chaos of my mind
where it intertwines
with the drip drip flow
of all the many things I know
and by some astonishing process
unfolds into a poem
giving me a singular moment
of delightful relief
from the drip drip
gush
rush rush
of this brain
that some days travels
like a speeding train
from one place to the next.
In the writing of a poem
for just a short while
the train is in the station;
I am at rest.
