I have taken to saying thank you to the trees. It came out unexpectedly one day whilst I was walking by the sea. ‘Thank you’ mushed up with tears. Thank you for taking care of us all this time. Thank you for making it possible for us to be here. Thank you for holding us in your endless presence. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I say it out loud if I am alone and I whisper it silently in my heart if I am not. I whisper it in the dark under the stars and in the light under the sun.
I was always taught to say thank you, but not like this. We are in vital need of returning to a way of being with the earth that makes everything sacred. I am starting with the trees.
Love and courage,
Leah
