Free to Be Me

To the misfits and awkward ones; the ones who don’t quite fit in; the ones who are too quiet or too loud, who think too much and no doubt about the wrong things, who are too much or not enough; to the oddballs and wanderers and wonderers; to the ones on the outside looking in saying, ‘I don’t get it’ – to me you are more ‘normal’ than all the ‘normal’ people and I am so, so, so glad you exist.

In the wilds of the garden I am free.
Here is a place I can be
and be
just
me.

The world at my door
clamouring and clawing for more
and I say,
have you seen the clematis?
It is about to bloom.

P.S. A few days ago I opened an Etsy shop with some wildflower watercolours and ‘thank you for being’ you cards. I feel weird about so many things right now and communication is feeling extra awkward and clumsy. But you are my people and you get it. That’s why I love and appreciate you so much. Thank you for being you 🙂  Etsy is totally new for me and I’m still getting my head around it, including the gazillion different types of fees they charge (I’ll probably need to adjust my pricing when I figure it all out). In time, I’ll be adding more things and hope to figure out how to do prints and add some of my words and poetry to the paintings as a way of earning some money more directly from my writing, basically my forever dream. Wow, I’m so emotional right now. I’ve been feeling like such a nut the last two weeks. Anyway, it’d be a delight to make and send you something and I appreciate your support.
